| Welcome to our Garden
Parade This is a site about a backyard garden in South Louisiana, just a few miles from New Orleans and the French Quarter. We are down here by the swamps growing creole tomatoes, hot chili peppers, cucumbers, and lots of other vegetables. We are vegetarian, so our garden means a lot to us... Be sure to check out our Gardening Blog and Gardening Pictures & check back often for updates!~ |

Corn corn corn! Corn is so delicious and good in so many things. Who doesn't like a fresh corn on the cob, dripping with butter? They sell them on the streets in Los Angeles. So we are growing some corn. I saw the packet of seeds at the nursery and couldn't resist. SugarPearl Hybrid Sweet Corn. The picture on the packet is of an almost white, delicious looking ear of corn. We eat a lot of
corn, and hope to have a decent harvest. It will be fun to see what
happens to our corn this season! |

Its cucumber season! I have three cucumber vines growing in my yard right now, and learned a lot about these fruits last year during my first cucumber grow. I love cucumbers, they are fun to grow. I like to slice them up and put them in salads. They are also delicious on a sandwich. I plan on finding
some cold salad recipes for my cucumbers too this year. |

We have created an informational site about Dollarweed. You love to hate it, and its in your yard. How do you get rid of it? There are many ways to deal with dollarweed, its just another plant in the garden parade! Dollarweed's scientific plant name is hydrocotyle umbellata. I actually really dig dollar weed, I think its really a cool plant. I mean, of all the weeds it is a nice and shiny little foliage thing. Much nicer than crabgrass. I just pluck their little heads off when they are in the way. Dollar weed is supposed
to be edible in salad. Not sure if I want to try that yet... |
